2008-2009 All district honor band

I am pleased to announce that two of the kids in my husbands band have
made it to honor band. They have practiced for 10 hours to be prepared
and they finally get to perform.

There are plenty of kids here from the FWISD school district and a
great crowd of parents to come our and support their kids. That's
pretty awesome. Some events you don't get an almost full auditorium
with family. As I have states before in precious blogs, we tend to get
drop off parents.

My biggest dilima when it comes to things of this nature is that
people continue to walk and talk during performances. When there is a
concede such as this or like an opera, you never walk in, in the
middle of a performance. You are to always wait until the performance
or song is done before you decide to just walk in and gave a set
because you couldn't get here on time. Please be on time. And just
because your child as completed his/her performance, please stay and
support the other groups. It didn't really look good when the last
group goes on and the crowd is almost gone because almost every but
their parents have left the show. So, so sad.

Let's support everyone, even if they are not our own children. They
need love to.

Its that time

Well folks, its that time of the year when we are suppose to think of others, other than ourselves. But why is it that we only do these types of things during the holidays? I think that a lot of us don't really think the holidays, such as Christmas, through. Some of us don't celebrate the real reason for the season. Yes our children still believe in Santa, but do they believe in Christ?

I am not trying to preach to anyone, by no means. I am just hoping that we are doing things for the reasons that they are created for. I would like for everyone to enjoy themselves this holiday season with their family, loved ones, and friends, with gifts and party's. But lets remember what this time is all about and be sure to share it with our children.

Happy holidays
Merry Christmas
Happy Hanukkah
Happy Kwanzaa
and anything that i have forgotten.

Enjoy.

It's Friday

Just something for today.

The past few weeks have been good. Not to much drama, just the usual. I continue to learn that you cannot change anyone but yourself. Dealing with your own personal drama is enough, let alone dealing with anyone else's. Especially when you have no ties with that person.

Work has been pretty quiet. Although that employee that had issues with a student, is still going on and on about it. Today she says that its her birthday. Well, happy birthday. Says she is 21 +4. But, looks way older than that unfortunately. So, I just left that one alone this morning. It would have been to easy.

Currently I have 12 students in my room for In-house suspension. Most of them because they did not attend after school detention. Go figure. But, they only have 2 options when it comes to being in In-house. You can either do the work or you can get out. No exceptions, no excuses. Those are the rules.

So that's life for today. Not to much going on for today. Maybe later though.

Drama in Schools

So this morning has been pretty interesting here at my high school. This school has some issues, always. If you are an employee of the school district, that is just what you are. You are not here to make friends with employees or be buddy buddy with the students. An employee. Your job is not to have specific conversations to students about their behavior, especially if you are just a monitor or security guard. That is not part of your job description. You certainly don't have that conversation with a student about another student, which happens to be one of their friends. You say that they students act like little kids, but here you go joining the crowd and getting into their conversation as if you were a high school student. That is just something that you don't do.

So why get mad when your supervisor wants to talk to you about the situation and what was actually said about that student. Don't be mad about. You said it, so face it. Although you face it, no one needs to know that you are going to speak your mind, and you are not going to get loud with people and you don't like people saying things about you that you did or did not say. WOW!!! Now the shoe is on the other foot. Now you want to go and cry about it to me because the supervisor wants to talk to you about it. Again, don't cry about it now. It was not your place to say those things. Listen, if you feel like you are having problems with the students, then you should take it to their principal. Because the way that you handled that was very unprofessional and you were so not in your place to say that to a student that you know nothing about. You only know of what you see and hear from other students.

(sorry, I got lost in the moment and felt like I was talking to that employee) Oh, trust me, I have said something to that employee about it. That was only because that person came to me. I was not going to say a word, but I had to give a little advice.

If it has nothing to do with you or no one has said your name, stay out of it. Now, when you hear your name calling, then you run.

I do this with my husband. When he is having a conversation about something with someone else, I never get in the middle of it. Why? Because he is not talking to me and most of the time, it does not concern me. I just listen for my name.

Have a wonderful Friday and an even Fabulous weekend.

Time for a change, LET'S GO VOTE

Now, I am sure that everyone has been listening and watching the elections. Please, please, please go out and vote. Tomorrow is election day for Texas. If you did not get to the polls for the early voting, tomorrow will be a hectic day, but worth standing in line for. As always, your vote makes a difference. Especially in this election that will be made historical. I am sure that everyone understand how important it is for you to vote, so I won't beat it into your heads any longer. Just VOTE!!!! It's that simple.
